Description
The Gold Compressiceps, scientifically named Altolamprologus Compressiceps, is a smaller relative of Dimidiochromis compressiceps. It is found in Lake Malawi and can grow up to a maximum size of 15 cm. The cichlid is highly appealing, characterised by a yellow and black mask that covers its head, as well as several vertical brown lines that adorn its body. It is important for their diet to include a combination of meaty and vegetable-based foods, such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, flake food containing Spirulina, and pellet food.
Gender inequality
An adult Compressiceps will reach a size of around 15 cm, with females generally being slightly smaller than males. There are discernible variations in body shape between males and females. Males generally exhibit greater height in the head region, while females tend to have a more streamlined, bullet-like appearance.
Temperament and Suitable Tank Companions
Gold Compressiceps cichlids are compatible with several smaller and generally non-aggressive African cichlids. Given that these fish necessitate a pH level of approximately 8, it is important to select tankmates that are capable of adapting to this condition.
