Description
Geophagus sp. Alto Sinu is a species native to Colombia All Geophagus species require a sandy substrate due to their earth sifting behaviour. Their common name, “Gold Dust” is derived from their remarkable scale patterns, which feature a combination of blue iridescence on a golden body. They are regarded as one of the most aesthetically pleasing species of Geophagus now kept in the hobby. These cichlids reach a maximum size of 15 cm.
Gender inequality
Adult males exhibit a much greater size, but females tend to be smaller in comparison. Additionally, dominant males possess a prominent nuchal hump.
Temperament and Suitable Tank Companions
Their behaviour and maximum size closely resemble those of the Red Head Tapajos, which makes them an appealing choice as tankmates for medium-sized cichlids and characins.
