Description
The Aulonocara Rubescens, sometimes referred to as the (Rubin Red Peacock Cichlid), is a species that may be found in several sites throughout Lake Malawi. Peacock Cichlids typically inhabit the area where the rocky beach meets the sandy lake bottom. The Rubin Red Peacock, is highly regarded for its remarkable and vibrant coloring. The fish has vibrant oranges and reds that provide a striking contrast with the bright blue markings on its face, tail, and fins. These Cichlids grow to a size of 13-15cm
Gender inequality
Female individuals do not possess the vibrant colors displayed by their male counterparts. The coloration of the fish is mostly influenced by factors such as its size, age, maturity, and dominance.
Temperament and Compatible Tank Companions
The most compatible tank mates are peaceful and amiable fish that occupy the higher areas of the tank. Other Peacock Cichlids are highly compatible tank mates for the Rubin Red Peacock Cichlids, as long as a ratio of one male to every two females is maintained to reduce dominant tendencies.
