Description

The graceful, lyre-tailed cichlid, scientifically known as Neolamprologus Brichardi originates from the rift lake Tanganyika, where it favours shallow, sediment-rocky habitats. They are a species with a creamy light hue with gold highlights, a black stripe through the eye and the fins tipped in white. This fish has remained popular since its introduction. They are beautiful and graceful, engendering common names like Princess of Burundi or Fairy Cichlid.

Gender Inequality

The dorsal fin identifies the sex difference between the fairy cichlids. Males usually have a longer and more developed dorsal than females. In addition, the black stripe between the eye is darker and wider on the males.

Temperament and Compatible Tank Companions

Fairy Cichlids may be aggressive towards one another, these species can be maintained in a species-only aquarium or with other cichlids native to Lake Tanganyika.
