Description

The Albino Fire Peacock Cichlid (Cichla ocellaris) is a stunning, vibrant freshwater fish renowned for its striking albino coloration and bold personality. This variant of the popular peacock cichlid displays a beautiful white or pale yellow body with fiery orange-red markings and distinctive eye spots on the fins, making it a standout in any large aquarium. Known for its active and territorial nature, the Albino Fire Peacock requires a spacious tank—minimum 300 litres—to accommodate its size and behaviour. The tank should feature plenty of open swimming space, along with rocks and plants for hiding and territorial boundaries.

Tank Recommendations:
A minimum of 300 litres, with a sturdy cover to prevent jumping. Maintain water temperature between 24-28°C, pH 6.5-7.5, and moderate water flow. Good filtration is essential to keep water quality high, as these fish produce a fair amount of waste.

Compatibility & Incompatibility:
They can be kept with other large, semi-aggressive fish such as large catfish, other cichlids, or silver dollars. Avoid small or peaceful species that may be bullied or eaten, including small tetras or guppies. They are territorial and may display aggression during breeding.

Best Feeding Regime:
Omnivorous; they thrive on a diet of high-quality pellets, flakes, live or frozen foods like bloodworms, krill, and small fish. Feed twice daily, offering only what they can consume within a few minutes to prevent water pollution.
