Description
The magnificent Silver Arowana scientifically known as Osteoglossum Bicirrhosum is a tank buster, you must keep an eye on this fish in your aquarium. This South American species is native to the Amazon, Essequibo and Oyapock basins. This fish has a long body, tapering tail, and comparatively big scales. The anal and dorsal fins reach all the way to the small caudal fin, where they are almost united. Although reports of individuals up to 1.2 m (3.9 ft) have been made, its maximum total length is normally thought to be 0.9 m (3.0 ft).The silver arowana maintains its same colour throughout its life, in contrast to the black arowana.
Gender Inequality
Males are more slender and have a longer anal fin, in comparison to females.
Temperament and Compatible Tank Companions
The species’ capacity to leap out of the water and capture its food has earned itself the nickname of “water monkey.” Arowanas, regardless of species, are primarily solitary fish. It is advised to keep just one fish unless you intend to breed arowana and have a very large tank. They will consume any tankmates that will fit in their mouths because they are predators.
